Movement to Music

This fun class will introduce preschool aged children to the rhythm of music and introduce beginner steps in dance. Various accessories such as parachutes, hula hoops, streamers and tambourines may be used to encourage creative movement.

  • Dress Code: Comfy, unrestrictive clothing, gymnastic or ballet shoes (black required for recital)

  • Length/Age: 30 minute classes for students born in 2020

Creative Dance

A great first introduction to dance. This class will have children working on improving balance and rhythm while learning basic dance moves. No previous experience required!

  • Dress Code: Comfy, unrestrictive clothing, gymnastic or ballet shoes (black required for recital)

  • Length/Age: 40 minute classes for students born in 2018–2019

Intro to Contemporary

Contemporary dance is an expressive dance form that combines elements of several dance forms including modern, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance relies on fluidity and improvisational movement to evoke a range of feelings in the viewer. Dancers in this class will develop strength, flexibility and skills as well as musicality and expression. Jumps, turns, kicks and floor work will be developed as the class proceeds. No previous experience required!

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in 2015–2017

Contemporary

Junior Contemporary

Contemporary dance is an expressive dance form that combines elements of several dance forms including modern, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance relies on fluidity and improvisational movement to evoke a range of feelings in the viewer. Dancers in this class will develop strength, flexibility and skills as well as musicality and expression. Jumps, turns, kicks and floor work will be developed as the class proceeds. Improvisation may be introduced.

  • Dress Code: Comfy, unrestrictive clothing, gymnastic or ballet shoes (black required for recital)

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in 2012-2014

Senior Contemporary

Contemporary dance is an expressive dance form that combines elements of several dance forms including modern, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance relies on fluidity and improvisational movement to evoke a range of feelings in the viewer. Dancers in this class will develop strength, flexibility and skills as well as musicality and expression. Jumps, turns, kicks and floor work will be developed as the class proceeds. Further emphasis on improvisation, collaboration and choreographic practices.

  • Dress Code: Comfy, unrestrictive clothing, gymnastic or ballet shoes (black required for recital)

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in 2009-2011, 2006-2008

Acro

Intro to Acro

The perfect class for students that enjoy dance and gymnastics! Students should expect to develop strength and flexibility as well as basic acrobatics skills (rolls, handstands, cartwheels). Simple partner tricks may be taught to gain understanding of balance and sharing body weight. No previous experience required but this class is a prerequisite to Intermediate Acro (2 years of Intro Acro and/or teacher approval is required to move to the next level).

  • Dress Code: Comfy, unrestrictive clothing, bare feet

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in at least 2016

Intermediate Acro

The perfect class for students that enjoy dance and gymnastics! Prior gymnastics or acrobatics experience required. Students will further develop strength, flexibility and acrobatics skills. Students should be able to do a cartwheel, handstand and bridge by themselves at the time of joining. Difficulty of skills and partner tricks will be increased. **The teacher reserves the right to assess all students in the first week of class to ensure appropriate skill level for this class and move a student to the class that suits their skill and age level. It is a prerequisite to Advanced Acro.

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in at least 2016

Advanced Acro

Prior gymnastics or acrobatics experience required. Students will further develop strength, flexibility and acrobatics skills. Students should be able to complete a variety of cartwheels and bridge combinations. Difficulty of skills and partner tricks will be further increased. **The teacher reserves the right to assess all students in the first week of class to ensure appropriate skill level for this class and move a student to the class that suits their skill and age level.

Hip Hop

Intro to Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a fast-tempo, high energy, urban style of dance that encompasses a variety of techniques including breaking, locking and popping. In this dynamic class, students will start with a warm-up and instruction of movement concepts and conclude by learning choreography to R&B, Pop and Old-School Hip-Hop music. No previous experience required!

  • Dress Code: Comfy, unrestrictive clothing, gymnastic or ballet shoes (black required for recital)

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in 2015–2017

Junior Hip Hop

Senior Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a fast-tempo, high energy, urban style of dance that encompasses a variety of techniques including breaking, locking and popping. Classes start with a warm-up designed to get the blood pumping and the muscles working intensely, and then students will move on to learning and perfecting difficult choreography.

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in 2009–2011 & 2006–2008

Musical Theatre

Junior Musical Theatre

For those with a dramatic flair! Dance and theatrics combined to create a rousing routine at recital. Students will participate in improvisation exercises, scene study and Classical Dance technique. They will then learn a combination to a classical musical theatre song. This class is designed for students to express themselves, have fun, work on technique/flexibility and BRING THE DRAMA.

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes for students born in 2012-20142009–2011 & 2006–2008 

Jazz Funk

Junior Jazz Funk

Jazz Funk is an expressive and energetic dance style that encourages strong technique, builds strength and promotes individual style. Class begins with a thorough warm-up and centre exercises. Students will then progress through a series of jumps, turns and combinations moving across the floor. We’ll end each class by teaching students a short piece of choreography. In our jazz funk classes, we use fun, popular music as well as classic jazz and Broadway genres.

  • Length/Age: 55 minute classes or students born in 2012-2014

Senior Jazz Funk

Jazz Funk is an expressive and energetic dance style that encourages strong technique, builds strength and promotes individual style. Class begins with a thorough warm-up and centre exercises.
